The smartphone camera has changed how people think about photography, because of it's easy-to-bring phone camera that can fit inside your pocket, rather than have to carry DSLR that multiple times bigger than a phone camera. This will make photo-sharing and photo-editing become demanded apps. And perhaps it will change how professional photographers and journalists work.

Most of us underestimate the ability of a smartphone's camera. But in fact, just a little setting, light, and angle, plus the right apps and tools, you can even capture more interesting and beautiful pictures than the picture that you get in a digital camera.

Know Your Camera Setting

The first thing you need to know is, don't rely on default automatic mode in your phone. Of course, choose yourself where the lens will be focused will give sharper focus results. You can improve your whole image quality by tweaking some image properties. However, each smartphone mostly has a different camera setting.

Choose the Highest Resolution

Higher the resolution, the better quality of the picture you get. When you are photographing an image, try to move your camera closer instead of zoom. Because the zoom will reduce the high resolution. And when you zoom very close, the slightest movement can ruin your camera focus.

Obviously, the bigger the resolution is, the bigger the size of the photo that saved in your storage, and faster the storage capacity becomes full. To resolve it, you can save your photo at cloud storage. Try photo-sharing apps or cloud storage services like Picasa or Dropbox, or you can move your photo to SD card.

Use the Main Camera

It is true that the front camera helps you to do selfie easily. However, generally, the front camera has a lower resolution than the back one. This is because most of the back camera comes with higher megapixels.

Use Black and White Mode

When all color settings are not helping, you can always use black and white or sepia mode. With this mode, you can rid some color issues in your camera. Yes, of course, you will lose all the colors, but you will not look like using a low-quality camera.

Pay More Attention to the Lighting

Always pay attention to where your lighting comes from. General rules of lighting in the phone camera remain the same as in normal camera - it prevents backlight unless you want a silhouette effect. And if you capture your object with the light from the side, it can give you texture and depth effect.

When there is lacking light, don't use flash. Because most of the phone camera flash is too rough, strong and not helpful. Try to increase the exposure level and ISO instead.
