How to resize image using Microsoft Paint, easy way to resize image/photo

Resize image or minify the image size is considered necessary if you want to change photo/image size from big size to small-sized file. In some case that usually happens, the problem begins when someone wanted to move digital photos from a camera or other devices that give big sized files. So, the photo can't appear on the phone. Therefore, resizing the photo's size is the solution.

Another usage of resizing image size is when we want to upload pictures at a social site, or any site that requires upload a minimum-size photo. Resizing can be your solution if you want to save disk space by saving a photo with small or medium sizes. Actually, there are so many photo editor programs that offer resize image tools, however, in this article, we will try to use Microsoft program which by default had been installed to your Windows.

RESIZE WITH 'HOLD-AND-DRAG'

The first way to change photo size is by using the feature in MS Paint that can change the size easily just by click-hold-drag. Make sure to activate the ruler at view tab. Then, follow this instruction to resize your image using this method.

1. Open MS Paint program.
2. OPEN your image/ photo which you want to be resized.
3. Click the select tool and select the area you want to crop. This will efficiently make the image smaller without reducing image quality.
4. Click the CROP button.
5. Press CTRL+A to select the whole image area. Click-hold-drag small square at the bottom-right corner of the image to change the image size as you desire.
6. Click the crop button if done.
7. Click the "SAVE AS" button if you want to keep the old image. If not, just click SAVE.

The side effect of this method is sometimes you can't maintain the aspect ratio of original images.

RESIZE USING RESIZE BOX

With this method, you can choose to maintain aspect ratio or not.

1. Do steps 1 - 4 from the previous method to crop the part of the image and discard unnecessary parts.
2. Click RESIZE, then will appear "RESIZE AND SKEW" box. And keep the checklist if you want to maintain aspect ratio.
3. Choose the resize method, percentage or pixels.
4. Then, change the horizontal and vertical value.
5. Click OK and SAVE.

Both of this method to resize an image with MS Paint is the alternative and fairly easy way to do because MS Paint is familiar even for beginners.
